4th Draft- Drawn Animation

This is another type of animation that I've created to explore the different processes involved in animation. For this video in particular, I used a white board and portrayed an idiom through line drawing. I chose 'To Drink Like A Fish' as I felt this would be fairly easy to draw and wouldn't be too formal or serious and so drawing the basic outline of it would be suitable.
I didn't storyboard for this animation as I felt it would further complicate things, as I didn't know how much space would be available and how long I'd have to complete the animation. I decided that improvising the finer details wouldn't create too many problems. Subsequently, it took me around an hour using 150 photographs. I feel this was appropriate as the animation itself only lasts around 30 seconds.
I began by deciding on a very vague plot so that I'd have something to work to, then I could draw things and add to it as I saw fit. I then drew a very basic person facing the camera, who then slowly turns to face the side and pick up a drink. He then drinks for a while, puts the drink down and then morphs into a fish. This is meant to show that he is 'Drinking Like A Fish' but subsequently turns into one. As I was just experimenting with this type of animation I didn't feel it needed to be too professional or perfected. I used a tripod for this animation as that's the only way it would have been a success, otherwise the images wouldn't have had any continuity. After completing the animation, I loaded the photographs into 'Final Cut Pro' and edited them so that the animation was completely desaturated and raised the contrast so that the lines would stand out more. I think this made the animation as a whole more dramatic and impressive.
I don't feel that improvising arose any issues, and if I had to do the project again I wouldn't have changed it. My main problem with the animation is that as I had to erase the line so many times to create it, there was a lot of grey residue left over. However I think this is a pedantic observation and didn't affect the animation as a whole. Now, with hindsight I think I should have altered the images in more stages to keep the transitions smoother. However I found this difficult as it was hard to see where the previous line was so I think the animation was success even considering this.
